A SIMPLE IDEA, AND A WAY TO GIVE HOPE TO THOSE IN NEED
"For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat ; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink ; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in" (Matthew 25:35)
"...if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?" (1 John 3: 17)
Many times during the Christmas season we sit in our warm homes, looking at our Christmas trees, hit the sales at the mall to find that "perfect present", and eat until we have to make a resolution to lose all the weight we gained; and we forget the many who are cold, hungry, and homeless. We celebrate the birth of Christ, yet we seem to forget He was born without a home. Jesus does not forget those who are in need, and He mandated us to help and remember them as well.
To give such a simple gift is easy:
1. Learn to crochet, knit, or tie (if you are unfamiliar)
2. Find others who wish to join you (there is power in numbers)
3. Locate a local mission or shelter
4. Give (it's really that easy!)
This mission of giving hats to the homeless may seem menial to some; however, with a little warmth, and an understanding that someone out there took their time to make something for them, these brothers and sisters will begin to have hope where there was once none, and perhaps more importantly, they'll begin to have faith! We ask that you simply make hats to give to local shelters or even to give it to our brothers and sisters on the street. It isn't much, but a little bit can go a long, long way.
